Detroit St Patrick's Day Parade
This weekend is a big party weekend everywhere. But there are some great family friendly events you can take your kids to happening. You can even make your own homemade Shamrock Shakes if you have some time!

As a kid I loved going to parades. It's not something that I did a lot of as an adult, until the last couple of years. Without a little one in tow it just didn't seem right. But if there is something

Detroit St Patrick's Day Parade
Detroit knows how to do well - it's throw a parade! And that can be said for the St. Patrick's Day Parade that goes down Michigan Avenue each year.

Yes, for some St. Patrick's Day is an excuse to drink from sun up to sun down (and some even before that). But you can take the kids down to see the parade, catch some beads and candy and don't forget see the bands and clowns! There are a lot of fun activities around that don't require drinking and some great photo opportunities.

If you are planning on going to the St. Patrick's Day Parade downtown Detroit be sure there to get there with plenty of time. Last year we had to park about 2 miles away and walk in - parking is limited, but you can always park and walk in from the surrounding areas. Check out the local Irish restaurants for some fantastic food and some great music too!

The 56th Annual Detroit St. Patrick’s Parade starts at 12:00 pm.  The parade assembles at 11:00 am on 6th Street and Michigan Ave.  Starting promptly at noon.  The Parade, which includes marching and pipe & drum bands, color guard units, floats, clowns, novelty groups and marching units, moves west on Michigan Ave., passes the reviewing stand and disperses at 14th Street, approximately 2 hours later.
