Posted by Becky Fixel This weekend is a big party weekend everywhere. But there are some great family friendly events you can take your kids to happening. You can even make your own homemade Shamrock Shakes if you have some time! As a kid I loved going to parades. It's not something that I did a lot of as an adult, until the last couple of years. Without a little one in tow it just didn't seem right. But if there is something Posted by Becky Fixel With more snow coming this weekend, we all might be facing a little bit of cabin fever. But this weekend is a great time to get out, enjoy the winter, the snow and some great winter activities. February 7th through 9th is the annual Winter Blast at Campus Martius Park downtown Detroit. Downtown Detroit becomes a winter play ground with free ice skating, a winter carnival and even a Red Wings Experience. A family friendly event, there activities for family members of all age, check out Radio Disney's booth and even have some fun with Doc McStuffins! For your older family members or foodies of all ages explore Greektown Casino - Hotel's Taste of Detroit and experience some great food and flavors from our great city! Bundle up, head out and have some fun in our beautiful downtown area with your friend and family. Posted by Becky Fixel Tomorrow the big game is on! And you can watch the lions play - of course not football, but at the zoo! The Detroit Zoo has released a one day only $2 off admission coupon that you can download, print and take for a fun day at the zoo tomorrow. Have you ever visited the Detroit Zoo in the winter? I know the Polar Bear and Arctic exhibit is a big hang out in the summer, but it's also just as fun in the winter. The crowds aren't as Posted by Becky Fixel Haven't made it out to Belle Isle yet to explore? This weekend is the perfect time to do it! For a small fee you can get Fresh Hot Soup, Hot Cocoa, Avalon Bread and Dessert. All proceeds help support the Belle Isle Conservatory. It's going to be a cold and snowy day, but warm up with local food, attractions and help support the Belle Isle Conservatory. Remember you can visit it year round for free, this is a great way to give back and make Posted by Becky Fixel As a kid we loved trips to the zoo and aquarium. Not only did we learn a lot, but we thought it was a lot of fun getting face to face with animals we wouldn't usually get to see. It's a big part of childhood and something that you can do with your kids for free! In September of 2012 the Belle Isle Aquarium reopened after being closed to the public for over seven years. With the grand re-opening behind it and a whole new generation is able to enjoy the beauty on |
